How Twiter Can Improve Your Search Results
September 3, 2009If you're spending precious money or energy to improve your search performance, Twitter can help. Here's how... Tweets help you dominate search engine results pages - or SERPs as they're called in the industry. Search engines show only two natural results for a native website per query, leaving a great deal of real estate for the competition. Again, in english...
If I use Google to search for a product or service you sell, your website will appear no more than twice, hopefully near the top of the page or what we call "above the fold" meaning you don't have to scroll down to find your listing. Remember Google indexes all your tweets so if you're pushing content out via Twitter, you can generate more search results and essentially stifle the competition. Think of it as a good old fashioned land-grab! Check out what happens when you search Google for Sima Dahl. The first site isn't even my business, it's my LinkedIn profile! Then Facebook, my position on the Board of Chicago AMA, and two hits from Twitter - and that's before you even find my Parlay Communications marketing agency listing.
